I would try posting in a facebook group: Are Painted Lady butterflies a natural enemy of Monarchs? Thinking the Monarch may be a laying female, it concerned me seeing the Painted Lady giving chase. It’s worth looking into.

What is the point of doing anything for the environment or for nature if you are spraying poison? I’ve known I had a lot of earwigs around our home but I never dreamed they would bother monarchs. It’s as if they sense there’s something trapping them and they are trying to escape even tho there’s still plenty of room in and up and around the plant even with the breathable mesh screen.
