I finally saw the crumbly side of the dough, no matter how carefully I handled it. Such a good cookie. I think those large chunks of chocolate were the culprits, it was hard to get the knife through them in a nice and neat manner. Blend in the salt and vanilla. Last year while perusing her cookie book which I simply adore, I realized I had never discovered what all the fuss was about. If you've frozen the dough, you needn't defrost it before baking-just slice the logs into cookies and bake for 1 minute longer. Roll up each dough log in parchment paper, twist the end to seal, and chill the dough, either in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours or the freezer for at least 2 hours.
I thought it was a hoot how the dough rolled into the log with zero problems and then crumbled all over after slicing. Bake the cookies one sheet at a time for 12 minutes-they won't look done, nor will they be firm, but that's just the way they should be. Turn the dough out onto a work surface and gather it together, kneading it just slightly if required. I'm so glad you're going to make World Peace Cookies - they are among my most, most favorite cookies and I hope you'll enjoy them. Space the rounds out on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.

These cookies differ from most by using two kinds of sugar: mainly light brown and about 27% granulated sugar (of the total amount of sugar used).
I kept these on hand throughout much of last winter and they were a life saver for lunch desserts for the kids, or an extra special little snack for myself when I was craving such a treat. Smart.
Using a sharp thin knife, slice the logs into rounds that are 1/2 inch thick. Add in the dry ingredients and mix into the butter mixture on low speed until the dough is homogenous and forms large, moist curds.
Take a peek-if there is still a lot of flour on the surface of the dough, pulse a couple of times more.

I remember back in ye’ ol’ days of blogging when these were absolutely all over the place with everyone raving about them, but I never got around to making them.
No harm is done.
